The major railway operators "Spetsenergotrans", ZiyadManasir Rail Garant Group and Sergei and Sergei SmyslovGushchina have decided to start a business together. They have established a company that will operate the combined fleet of boxcars of the partners. The new structure will be third after the first and second tier freight companies in the transport market for boxcars and will serve primarily in retail groceries which means specializing in small individual shipments.

"Spetsenergotrans" and the group have established a joint venture with Rail Garant, "ReylSpetsTrans," which will be engaged in the transportation of goods in covered wagons. This was said by the CEO of "Spetsenergotrans" Maxim Mironenko. According to him, the parties will receive 50% of the JV. "ReylSpetsTrans" will give a lease out of all the boxcars of the partners: about three thousand from "Spetsenergotrans" and over two thousand from Rail Garant. The joint venture will be headed by the commercial director of a member of the Rail Garant Pipe transport company VadimTugushev.

With a fleet of five thousand wagons "ReylSpetsTrans" will be the third by volume company. In the second commercial property the company now has more than 24 thousand covered wagons, and First Freight Company owns 16.5 thousand cars. Among the other major players there is "Eurosib" which had offered "Transgarant" for sale by Sergei Generalov (which owns about a thousand covered wagons). The total network of Railways, according to Maxim Mironenko, employs about 60 thousand cars. In the future, "ReylSpetsTrans" plans to put an offer on the lease of covered wagons to the rest of the owners of the park, added a top manager.

"The ideology is to create a joint venture with convenient service for a wide range of shippers", assured Maxim Mironenko. Covered wagons are needed by food retail companies who buy unit transportation in small batches. With a large fleet building profitable logistics is easier, said a top manager. In addition to the retail companies it will focus on the suppliers of paper, cardboard and other goods for which transportation needs protection from the weather and additional protection against theft.

Now among the customers of both companies there is the group "Razgulay", "Kuzbastranstsement" and others.
The CEO of the agency "Infoline-Analysis", Mikhail Burmistrov, calls the idea of combining a specialized park appropriate. "The owners of covered wagons through the optimization of traffic with loopback routes may now earn more than 1,5 thousand rubles a day per car but it's more profitable to use a boxcar, which are the most common type of cars today," he said. For Rail Garant SP this could be another step in the development of the holding, which consists of specialized companies. Mikhail Burmistrov believes that such a configuration by the operator of the business can be effective and gain distribution in the Russian market.
