Rail Garant Group launched a rail car repair depot in Stary Oskol on the South-Eastern Railway (YuVDZh) on the base of one of its existing companies, Rail Car Wheel Workshop, on November 8th, 2012.

The first development stage in the rail car repair business of RG Group was the opening, in 2007, of Rail Car Wheel Workshop. Over the five years of its operation, Rail Car Wheel Workshop has increased its annual capacity for repairing wheel sets to 27.3 thousand wheel pairs per year.

The next stage, the construction of a rail car repair depot, was completed in October of this year. Its opening will allow Rail Car Wheel Workshop (RG Group) to provide the full range of repair services for rail cars, including:

- formation, maintenance and service of wheel sets.
- current uncoupling car repair and standing services for cars on rails at a length of 20 km.
- planned (roundhouse and capital) servicing of cargo cars.

The fact that the companies are located together in one place makes it possible to lower the cost of services and reduce the time needed for technical servicing and repairs of cars.

The modern technological equipment used in the depot makes for maximum possible efficiency and productivity.

The annual program of depot repair of the rail car repair depot is 3,000 scheduled maintenance services, including 750 pellet cars, 1400 gondola, 450 box cars, 225 platforms and 175 cement cars.

Launch of the first phase of the rail car-repair depot will create up to 120 new jobs for residents of Stary Oskol, with designed capacity (end of 2013) of up to 250 jobs.

Total investments into construction of the depot will equal RUR467.8 mln. Rail Garant Group’s strategy calls for further development of the rail car repair business and creation of new repair centers in Russia and the CIS countries.
