In July of the current year the share of the fleet owned or leased by Rail Garant Group of Companies was increased to reach 70%.

The increase became possible due to the acquisition by “Pipe Transport Company” («PTK»), a member of the Group, of “Rail Aktiv” railway operator with the fleet of 1600 open box cars, 1100 oil cisterns and 500 bulk grain carriers.

In the result of the transaction РTK purchased 99.9% of the authorized capital of Rail Aktiv. The transaction was financed by РTK’s own means.

The cooperation between the companies started with Rail Aktiv as a lessor of freight cars to Rail Garant Group. After the merger of the companies the leased fleet became the property of Rail Garant, increasing the share of the Company’s own rolling stock to 70%, although the total number of cars in the operations fleet remained the same.

According to Roman Kotenko, RG’s Chairman of the Management Board and CEO, increasing the share of the Company’s own cars is one of the key principles of the Company development. The purchase of Rail Aktiv is just a stage to achieve the ultimate goal. As Rail Active operates mostly on the territory of the Ural Federal District, the purchase in question will strengthen the positions of Rail Garant in the region.
