The STG company (belongs to Rail Garant Group) has initiated and now takes an active part in development of innovative tank container made of composite materials.
For more than ten-year history the company saved up unique experience in operation and maintenance of tank containers. The course on extension of the nomenclature of the transported freights, including aggressive chemistry and aspiration to achieve maximum efficiency and safety when using containers, necessitates development of models with the improved technical characteristics.
While transporting the most corrosion products, the company faced some challenges concerning protection of an internal surface of a vessel against their influence.
To solve the challenges STG suggested to create essentially new tank container with the vessel made of the polymeric composite materials (PCM).
Technical specification on construction of such container was sent to the Russian producers and it is accepted to design by JSC Uralkriomash. According to requirements of the specification the container has to be steady against corrosion when transporting the most aggressive products, such as hydrochloric and phosphoric acid, sodium hydrate. Also an important condition is the cost of a final product – it shouldn't exceed the average market price of chemical tank container.
Tank container with a vessel made of PCM and tested will be presented at the end of April of the current year.
"Implementation of this project will allow to extend the list of the transported freights, to solve a problem of internal corrosion of a vessel, and also considerably to simplify preparation the tank container for transportation of another product, by means of excluding expensive procedure of steaming of an internal surface of a vessel and having replaced with its simple sink", said the technical director of STG Evgeny Bogdanov.

By introducing the innovative tank containers made from composite materials Russia has every chance to make a qualitatively new step in the field of construction the tank containers and to take a worthy place in the world market", emphasized the managing director of STG Maria Surina.
