STG (part of the Rail Garant Group) has acquired a trial batch of 6 tank containers (TC) for carrying hydrochloric acid.

The main particularity of such tank containers is the rubberized inner surface of the boiler - a special coating protects the TC boiler from corrosion during transportation of aggressive chemicals, including hydrochloric acid.

Trial transportation runs were launched on the Sverdlovsk railway in the beginning of December. The planned monthly transportation volume is 150 tons. Besides hydrochloric acid, the rubberized tank containers are also suitable for transporting other volatile chemicals such as sodium hypochlorite, silicic hydrofluoric acid, etc.

"We plan to start using an additional 10 tank containers for transporting hydrochloric acid by the end of this year. Based on our test results, we decided to further increase our current tank container fleet,” explained Maria Surina, STG Managing Director.
