At the turn of July of the current year, Spectransgarant (Rail Garant Group) entered into a contract for the delivery of a trial batch of tank containers for transportation of liquid sulfur. The concept of tank container was developed by STG specialists taking into consideration maximal customers’ requirements. According to the contract terms and conditions, STG will obtain 4 tank containers already in December, 2011.

Now, the average age of tank car fleet to be used for transportation of liquid sulfur is about 27 years with the 27 years’ life time. New cars are not manufactured practically due to lack of orders and high cost of new rolling stock. In this connection, STG plans to use tank containers as an alternative to tank cars for transportation of liquid sulfur.

“STG is the first Russian company that use tank containers for transportation of liquid sulfur and thus will enter such transportation type market. We plan to carry out trial transportations at the beginning of the next year. They will allow revealing the need for additional improvements and modification of documentation when building mass batches of tank containers”, - said Alexander Fokin, the STG CEO.
